Granny's Maple Cranberry Granola Recipe

Granola Recipe Ingredients

  • 4 cups whole grain flakes (use a mix of organic oats, barley, wheat and/or kamut)
  • 3/4 cup almonds (sliced)
  • 1/3 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp cold butter (unsalted), cut into 5 or 6 pieces
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract
  • 1 pinch of salt

Granola Recipe Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°
  2. Combine whole grain flakes and almonds on a large baking sheet, spreading evenly
  3. Toast for 5 minutes, stir, toast for 5 more minutes or until golden brown
  4. Move mixture from baking sheet into a large bowl
  5. Spread 1 tsp butter evenly across the baking sheet
  6. Combine remaining butter with salt, flour and sugar in a food processor
  7. Pulse until mixture becomes large crumbs
  8. Combine with grain mixture and toss
  9. Combine vanilla almond extracts and maple syrup in a medium sized bowl
  10. Stir into the grain mixture until evenly distributed
  11. Spread on buttered baking sheet evenly
  12. Toast for 6 minutes, stir, toast for 6 to 8 more minutes until golden brown
  13. After cooling, stir in cranberies and raisins
